Porsche unveils a brand new roof tent for all models in its range, from the 911 to the Taycan via the Cayenne. What to give desires of escape.

Today, campervans and other motorhomes are on the rise, while motorists are increasingly craving freedom and a change of scenery. In order to meet the growing demand, many brands and equipment manufacturers are expanding their ranges and offering new accessories for travel. We think in particular of Skoda, which unveiled last July a very special version of its Enyaq iV, called FestEVal and transforming into a converted van. It is also impossible not to mention the Volkswagen ID. Buzz, the first “real” electric van on the market.

Now it’s another manufacturer’s turn to enter the world of camping, and to tell the truth, it’s not necessarily the one we expected, although it had already unveiled a concept van electric in 2020. It is indeed Porsche, which has just unveiled a brand new accessory that should appeal to travel fans.

It is indeed a roof tent, which has the particularity of being compatible with all models in the range.. Owners of 100% electric 911, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Taycan can therefore take advantage of this shelter, developed in partnership with Studio FA Porsche.

In its press release, the Stuttgart brand explains that this tent can accommodate no less than two people, while it measures 258 cm long, 257 cm wide and 118 cm high when unfolded. For optimal comfort, it also has two side windows, while the walls are made of breathable cotton.

Can be used whatever the season, this accessory has water-resistant zippers and a separate rain cover for the entrance“, while occupants can enjoy a high-density foam mattress. When folded, the tent has dimensions of 146 cm long, 140 cm wide and 33 cm high. It is recommended not to exceed 130 km/h when installed on the roof.

This equipment, which should delight camping fans, is available with two color combinations, namely black and light gray or black and dark gray while a Porsche logo completes the set. But if you like this tent, know that the price is very high, since it takes no less than 4,980 euros.

Other accessories are also available as an option, such as a small inner tent, an electric blanket or a bag organizer. The first deliveries will begin in November.

All that remains is to find the ideal place to settle down with your Porsche in order to spend a night or a weekend in the open air. American customers will have the chance to take advantage of the network of charging stations installed by Rivian near the major national parks to recharge their Taycan during their getaways. However, only 11.5 kW chargers are currently open to everyone, while 200 kW fast terminals are reserved for owners of American brand vehicles.
