Spanish additives maker Tolsa SA will spotlight its ADINS-brand flame retardants for polypropylene, PVC, rubber polymer systems and silicones at K 2022.

In a news release, marketing manager Almudena Vidal said that Tolsa's materials "are highly versatile and can be fine-tuned to meet the high-performance needs of formulators and end users."

Madrid-based Tolsa recently applied its ADINS FR technology to nylon matrices for uses in electrical/electronics, automotive, textile and transportation markets. The firm is developing new products for these systems. Tolsa has reduced Total Heat Release (THR) levels more than 20 percent compared with competitive additive solutions.

Wire and cable applications also will be in focus for Tolsa at K 2022. In those applications, the firm's FR materials are meeting growing demand for synergists in an environment of increasingly stringent regulations as well as environmental, health and safety standards.

Tolsa also will highlight ADINS materials for biocide applications. That line has been approved in Germany for disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals as well as for film preservatives; fiber, leather, rubber and polymerized material preservatives; and construction material preservatives.

In biocides, Tolsa offers three grades of products for plastics — two based on silver and one based on zinc. The materials allow optimal dispersion in the matrix, which creates high antimicrobial activity at lower dosages.
