Outrage as Airbnb host charges £60 a night to stay in a TENT on concrete in his back garden

TOURISTS looking to spend a night on the town in Dublin have discovered what may well be the worst Airbnb listing of all time.

For £60 a night, anyone who visits the stunning city can get some shut-eye in a pop-up tent in someone's back garden.

But even those who love spending a night under the stars will likely balk at spending their hard-earned cash on the experience.

That's because the tent has been set up on concrete rather than grass - promising the unlucky visitor a very uncomfortable evening.

It was initially believed the listing was a joke. Property prices in the Irish capital are sky-high, leading some to guess the tent was some very on-the-nose satire.

However, there was horror after it was then revealed the ad is real.

A screenshot has now gone viral on Twitter after it was shared by housing activist Ciaran, who runs page Crazy House Prices.

"I've been sent this one loads, assumed it was a p**** take," he said.

"Apparently it's not."

After appearing on social media, the tent's nightly price was slashed to just shy of £50 a night.

The person responsible for the listing has now deleted it from the Airbnb website altogether after he was approached by campaigner Aimee.

She emailed the host to check if the option was real - and he replied: "Hi Aimee.

"It's not a joke.

"However, maybe a comfortable couch in the living room is something you prefer.

"I have a very large living room for that and several couches. And it's listed also."

One shocked Twitter user said: "What will be the catalyst to fix this crisis?"

He said advertising "a f***ing tent on a concrete patio" as a "private room" is a "sad reflection on someone's moral compass".

"That tent should be rented out - then set on fire," another wrote.

In 2020, a group of friends intentionally created the site's most miserable Airbnb experience - and still received bookings.

YouTubers Rhys Simmons, Jamie Kamaz and Hitchin set up a mattress and a bedside table - complete with lamp and two glasses of water - in the middle of a field in north London.

To their surprise, they received a remarkable amount of interest upon listing the 'property' on Airbnb and, had they taken the punters' money, would have turned a profit.
